Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner with Psychiatry certification needed

The CRNP is responsible for the care and treatment of mentally ill consumers on a designated service area(s) and has professional responsibility for diagnosis, determination of treatment methods, and leadership in the implementation of treatment plans, and discharge planning. The work is performed under the general direction of a Physician/Staff Psychiatrist or other administrative supervisor for clinical and administrative issues and is reviewed for conformance to current, accepted psychiatric nursing and medical principles and techniques through staff conferences, case reports, observation during performance, evaluation of results, and performance improvement activities. This is a multi-award bid to all responsive and responsible bidders.

Service to include responsibility in consumer care and treatment which may include but is not limited to:
  1. Psychiatric assessments/diagnosis.
  2. Admission notes and evaluations.
  3. Discharge summaries.
  4. Directs and participates in Treatment Team functions.
  5. Assures active treatment is occurring on assigned unit(s). Psychiatric rounds are to be completed daily on the units.
  6. Provides consultation to, consults with, and advises members of the nursing or other clinical staff and allied hospital personnel, agencies, relatives, and other interested persons on the care, treatment, and prognosis of consumers.
  7. Order and/or review of laboratory reports, test results, x-ray reports, other diagnostic test reports, physical and neurological examinations, consultation reports, and other medical/psychiatric reports in order to alert staff to any unusual circumstances.
  8. Responsibilities and duties will be governed and updated by Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service, Department of Public Welfare and other administrative and regulatory agencies’ bulletins and directives.
  9. The incumbent may chair or be a member of any hospital/medical staff committee or task force.
  10. The incumbent is required to cover other unit(s) during normal working hours with no increase in hourly rate, as assigned, in cases where the attending psychiatrist is off duty and according to the number of primary psychiatric staff.
Requirements Profile:
-Possession of a valid certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner as issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
-Possession of a valid certification in the adult psych/MH specialty area as issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
-Maintains a valid CRNP Prescriptive Authority Approval to prescribe and dispense drugs as issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
